  • Author: lina_recipes

Description

Bacon-wrapped smokies are a classic party appetizer that combines the smoky goodness of cocktail sausages with crispy, caramelized bacon. This irresistible dish is easy to make, requires just a few ingredients, and is perfect for game days, holiday gatherings, or any occasion where you want a crowd-pleasing snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14 oz) of cocktail smokies (Lil’ Smokies or similar)
  • 1 pound of bacon, cut into thirds
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Bacon: Cut each bacon strip into thirds, making sure each piece is long enough to wrap around a cocktail sausage.
  3. Wrap the Smokies: Wrap each smokie with a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick.
  4. Coat with Sugar & Spices: In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and garlic powder. Roll each bacon-wrapped smokie in the sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  5. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the wrapped smokies on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced for proper cooking.
  6. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized.
  7. Serve: Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces like honey mustard or barbecue sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil them for the last 2-3 minutes.
  • Add a drizzle of maple syrup before baking for a sweet-savory twist.
  • Serve them with toothpicks for easy grabbing at parties.
