Bite-sized sweet-and-salty treats combining crunchy pretzels, gooey caramel, and crisp apple pieces — perfect for snack tables, holiday parties, or an easy after-school treat.


Ingredients

  • Square pretzel snaps (or any flat pretzel)

  • Individually wrapped soft caramels

  • 12 crisp apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cut into small cubes

  • Optional: lemon juice or water (to prevent apple browning)

  • Optional toppings: semi-sweet chocolate chips, chopped peanuts, or chopped nuts


Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare: Preheat oven to 250°F (≈120°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.

  2. Prepare Apple Chunks: Cut apples into small bite-sized pieces. Optional: soak in water + lemon juice to reduce browning, then dry thoroughly.

  3. Arrange Pretzels & Caramel: Place pretzel snaps in a single layer on the baking sheet. Unwrap a caramel for each pretzel and place on top.

  4. Bake to Soften Caramel: Bake 3–5 minutes, just until caramel softens without fully melting.

  5. Add the Apple: Remove from oven and immediately press an apple cube onto each softened caramel.

  6. Optional Drizzle & Topping: Melt chocolate with a little coconut oil or milk and drizzle over bites. Sprinkle with nuts before chocolate sets.

  7. Cool & Serve: Allow bites to cool until caramel firms. Serve at room temperature, or chill briefly for a firmer bite.

Notes

  • Ensure apple pieces are very dry; moisture can make caramel slide or get soggy.

  • Watch the caramel closely — over-softening can cause a mess.

  • Work quickly when adding apples and toppings as the caramel sets fast.

  • Tart apples (like Granny Smith) balance the sweetness of the caramel.
