Description
Remember making English muffin pizzas as a kid? Well, I took that nostalgic favorite and turned it into the ultimate breakfast solution. These English muffin breakfast pizzas combine everything you love about pizza with classic breakfast flavors β and they’re ready in just 20 minutes!
Ingredients
Base Ingredients:
- 6 English muffins, split in half (regular works perfectly)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (don’t go overboard – less is more!)
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 12 fresh eggs (the star that makes it breakfast!)
Breakfast Proteins:
- 1 cup cooked breakfast sausage, crumbled, OR
- 8 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled, OR
- 1 cup diced ham
Optional Toppings:
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
- 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup mushrooms, diced
- 2 tbsp fresh spinach
Seasonings:
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Equipment:
- Large baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Non-stick skillet for eggs
- Timer (seriously, use it!)
Instructions
Step 1: Get Your Oven Ready
π₯ Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C)
π Line baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking
Why 375Β°F? This temperature melts the cheese perfectly without burning the English muffins!
Step 2: Prep Your Muffin Base
π₯ Split English muffins in half and place cut-side up on baking sheet
β¨ Optional: Lightly toast them first for extra crispiness (they’ll crisp up in the oven anyway)
Step 3: Build Your Breakfast Pizzas
π Spread pizza sauce evenly over each muffin half
- KEY TIP: Use just enough to add flavor – too much = soggy mess!
π§ Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over sauce
π₯ Add your protein: crumbled sausage, bacon, or diced ham
πΆοΈ Top with veggies: bell peppers, olives, mushrooms – whatever your family loves!
Step 4: First Bake
β° Bake 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly
π― Look for: Golden, irresistible cheese that looks like fresh pizza
Step 5: Perfect Your Eggs (While muffins bake)
π³ Cook eggs in non-stick skillet however your family prefers:
- Sunny-side up (runny yolk = built-in sauce!)
- Over-easy
- Scrambled
- Over-medium
β±οΈ Timing Tip: Start eggs when muffins go in the oven so everything finishes together
Step 6: Final Assembly
π₯ Carefully place one egg on top of each baked pizza
πΏ Season with: oregano, basil, salt, and pepper
β¨ The herbs make them taste restaurant-quality!
