One-Skillet Spicy Honey BBQ Sausage Pasta – Sweet, Smoky & Zesty

  • Author: Linda

Description

This dish is a flavorful, no-fuss meal made in one pan — juicy sausages simmered in a spicy honey BBQ sauce, tossed with pasta, and finished with fresh herbs. Perfect for a hearty weeknight dinner that doesn’t require a million pots and pans.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 400450 g pasta (penne, rigatoni, or your favorite)

  • 45 smoked or pre-cooked sausages, sliced

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth (or water)

  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the Sausage
Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until lightly browned.

  • Sauté Onion & Garlic
Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until translucent. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  • Add Sauce & Spices
Pour in the BBQ sauce, honey, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine, letting the flavors meld for a minute.

  • Add Pasta & Liquid
Add the pasta and the broth (or water) to the skillet. Stir well to combine, making sure the pasta is coated with the sauce.

  • Simmer
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked and the sauce thickens (about 10–12 minutes). If it gets too thick, add a little more water or broth.

  • Finish & Serve
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or basil before serving.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked or smoked sausages to avoid long cooking times.

  • Keep an eye on the pasta as it simmers — you may need to adjust the liquid to get the right consistency.

  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to control how spicy the dish is.
