Description
This Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwich recipe features tender, flavorful beef simmered in a savory broth, served on crusty rolls and au jus for dipping. It’s the perfect comfort food for any occasion!
Ingredients
3 pounds of beef chuck roast
1 onion, sliced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 cups of beef broth
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
4 hoagie rolls or French baguettes
Sliced provolone cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
2. Season the beef chuck roast with salt, pepper, and dried thyme, then place it on top of the onions.
3. In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour this mixture over the beef in the slow cooker.
4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shredded.
5. Once cooked, remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker to soak up more juices.
6. To serve, fill each hoagie roll with shredded beef and top with provolone cheese if desired. Serve with a small bowl of au jus from the slow cooker for dipping.
Notes
This recipe can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat before serving.
