1 baking dish
1 mixing bowl
1 oven
- 4 to 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts or preferred chicken pieces
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 to 3 cloves garlic minced or garlic powder to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper or to taste
- 8 to 12 slices regular cut bacon not thick-cut, enough to wrap each chicken piece
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease or line a baking dish with foil or parchment.
In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, minced garlic or garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss to coat each piece evenly with the brown sugar mixture, pressing it lightly to stick.
Wrap each coated chicken piece with 1 to 2 slices of bacon, securing the ends underneath to prevent unraveling.
Arrange the bacon-wrapped chicken in the prepared baking dish with space between pieces. Sprinkle leftover sugar mixture on top.
Bake for 25 to 35 minutes until chicken is cooked through and bacon is browned and slightly crisp.
Optional: Broil for a few minutes to crisp bacon further, watching carefully to avoid burning the sugar.
Let chicken rest for a few minutes before serving warm with desired sides.
- Use thighs or tenders instead of breasts; adjust cooking times accordingly.
- Adjust brown sugar amount for desired sweetness.
- Add smoked paprika or cayenne for extra flavor.
- Use a wire rack over the baking dish to enhance bacon crispiness by letting fat drip.
