Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet greased or parchment-lined
  • 1 serrated knife for slicing rollups
  • 1 rolling surface lightly floured

Ingredients

  • 1 ball pizza dough fresh or store-bought, at room temperature
  • 8 oz thinly sliced deli ham
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese or other melty cheese
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish
  • Optional: mustard or horseradish sauce for serving

Instructions

  • Let pizza dough rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes to relax.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 12 by 8-inch rectangle.
  • Spread ham slices evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around edges.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the ham, covering to the edges.
  • Starting from a short end, roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch seams to seal.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place roll seam-side down on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes to allow clean slicing.
  • Slice into 8 even pieces using a serrated knife.
  • Serve warm, optionally garnished with parsley and with mustard or horseradish.

Notes

  • Use cheddar, Swiss, or provolone cheese for flavor variations.
  • Spread mustard or pesto on dough before layering for extra taste.
  • Substitute turkey or chicken for a lighter option; add veggies like spinach or peppers.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container refrigerated up to 3 days and reheat in oven to keep crispiness.
