Equipment

  • 1 oven preheated to 375°F
  • 1 baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • 1 mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard optional
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 can 8 oz refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or parsley optional topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, diced ham, Swiss cheese, softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until creamy and well mixed.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and press the perforated seams together to form a rectangle placed on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Spread the filling evenly down the center of the dough rectangle.
  • Cut strips about 1 inch wide along both sides of the filling. Fold strips alternately over the filling to create a braided pattern.
  • Brush the braid with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or parsley if desired.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • Substitute ham with turkey for a milder flavor.
  • Add spinach or broccoli to the filling for added nutrition.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing to keep filling intact.
