Ingredients
  

  • 1 box white or yellow cake mix and ingredients required on box
  • 1 can 12 fl oz orange soda
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 8 oz whipped topping or about 2 cups whipped cream
  • optional: shaved white chocolate extra orange zest, or rainbow sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven according to cake mix instructions and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Prepare and bake the cake batter as directed on the box.
  • While still warm, poke 20 to 30 holes evenly over the cake using a wooden spoon end or skewer.
  • Slowly pour the orange soda over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth, then gently fold in whipped topping until combined.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the soaked cake.
  • Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours or overnight before slicing and serving chilled.

  • Add orange zest to the cream layer for extra citrus flavor.
  • Use a spatula to help evenly distribute soda if needed.
