Equipment

  • 1 large skillet for cooking burgers
  • 1 spatula for smashing and flipping patties
  • 1 bowl for seasoning beef

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 –2 tbsp oil for searing
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • –2 cups shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey Jack, or blend
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce diced tomatoes, sliced onions, pickles
  • Optional sauces: ranch BBQ sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, mustard

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, gently mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  • Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and place on the hot surface.
  • Smash each portion flat into thin patties using a spatula or burger press.
  • Cook patties for 2–3 minutes until browned, then flip and cook 1–2 minutes more until cooked through.
  • Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.
  • Lay a warmed tortilla flat and place a burger patty on one half.
  • Top the patty with shredded cheese so it begins to melt.
  • Add your preferred toppings and fold the tortilla over like a taco or wrap.
  • Serve immediately with sauces on the side.

Notes

  • Add extra cheese between patty and tortilla for extra melt.
  • Increase spice with cayenne or hot sauce in beef.
  • Press patties thin for crispier edges.
  • Serve with fries, chips, or fresh slaw.
