1 large skillet for cooking burgers
1 spatula for smashing and flipping patties
1 bowl for seasoning beef
- 1 lb ground beef 80/20
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 –2 tbsp oil for searing
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 1½ –2 cups shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey Jack, or blend
- Optional toppings: shredded lettuce diced tomatoes, sliced onions, pickles
- Optional sauces: ranch BBQ sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, mustard
In a bowl, gently mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and place on the hot surface.
Smash each portion flat into thin patties using a spatula or burger press.
Cook patties for 2–3 minutes until browned, then flip and cook 1–2 minutes more until cooked through.
Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.
Lay a warmed tortilla flat and place a burger patty on one half.
Top the patty with shredded cheese so it begins to melt.
Add your preferred toppings and fold the tortilla over like a taco or wrap.
Serve immediately with sauces on the side.
